Bangladesh ready to Observe 7th World Radio Day | 13 February 2018

7th World Radio Day 2018 is going to be observed in local and national level in Bangladesh on 13 February 2018. In the meanwhile, all radio station like Public Service Broadcasting, Private Broadcasting, and Community Radio Stations are preparing them for celebrating the day 7th time in Bangladesh in line with The theme Radio and Sports.

In this occasion, Public Service Broadcasting, Private Broadcasting, andCommunity Broadcasting initiators will arrange a Colorful Rally, Seminar, Cultural Program and listener’s conference at local and national level.

The representative from media, practitioners, civil society members, administration and delegates from the different level of the society will be invited to the event. Besides, 12 Bangladesh Betar (Radio) regional stations, 22 Private FM radio stations and 17 Community Radio stations in rural areas in Bangladesh will organize colorful rally and seminar on the occasion.

The day-long program will start with a rally at 9 am from Betar Bhaban, Agargaon which will travel up to Shishumela and come back.

The Hon’ble Minister for the Ministry of Information, HE Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu, MP Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh will be the Chief Guest and Advocate Tarana Halim, MP Hon’ble State Minister for Ministry of Information, and Mr. A.K.M. Rahmatullah, MP the chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Ministry of Information and Mr. Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Information will be attending as the special guests at the opening ceremony of World Radio Day activities in Betar Bhaban, Agargaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. Narayan Chandra Shil, Director General, Bangladesh Betar will preside the occasion.

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has started advocacy process on observing the world radio day in Bangladesh on 13 February in collaboration with public service Broadcasting, Commercial broadcasting & Community Radio at local and national level. As a result, World Radio Day Observation National Committee was formed to observe the day locally & nationally by Ministry of Information, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh from 2012.
