Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) was honored to receive Md. Sirajul Islam Khan, Assignment Officer from NGO Affaires Bureau of Prime Minister’s Office of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for visiting Community Radio Sagordwip, Hatiya, Noakhali.
Community radio can play a vital role to a difference in the community life- said by Md. Sirajul Islam Khan, Assignment Officer, NGOs Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh who visited Community Radio Sagordwip, Hatiya from March 24, 2017 to March 28, 2017 along with a junior colleague and Mark Manash Saha, Coordinator of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) for American English Radio Project (AERP) accompanied with the team during the visit.
During the visit Mr. Khan inaugurated the Radio Listeners’ Orientation and observed some sessions. He shared his experiences and the importance of English in the future days to cope with the global context. Later he met with the Station Manager, Focal person and Producers, volunteers, listeners’ club members of CR Sagordwip to get updates of ongoing activities of CR Sagordwip.
The main objective of the visit is to observed listeners’ orientation on English language radio program of Radio Sagordwip and lens inside into the trend of growth as a Community Radio. Besides He has had several sharing discussions with the Chairman, Project Director and other staff members of Dwip Unnayan Sangstha (DUS) at Hatiya. Interactions with different groups, stakeholders, villagers and community peoples he expressed his satisfaction on the ongoing development programs of DUS as well as Community Radio Sagordwip.
He told that Community radio Sagordwip is really a community-friendly media to reduce the poverty of the island. He thanked the initiator organization and radio Sagordwip team for engaging community people in planning, producing and broadcasting radio programs; content selection for addressing challenges that the community facing in daily life.
Finally, Mr. Khan has handed over the laptop of American English Listener’ Corner (AELC) to the Project Director of DUS and in-charge of radio Sagordwip. In his speech he explained the importance of English now a day, AEL Corner (AELC) and its available services for the listeners. While talking to the beneficiaries he wanted to know their reaction, response and interest. The visit was a tremendous one and concluded with great pleasure and satisfaction.
He expressed his appreciation to BNNRC for its efforts in supporting the Community Radio Stations to improve rural livelihood in Bangladesh.
