Orientation for new community radio initiators held at Dhaka

Today an orientation meeting was held at the Training Room of COAST Trust for the initiators of 16 community radio stations who received primary approval to set up the stations in 2nd and 3rdphase. This meeting has been organized to identify the challenges and way forward in installation of the stations. The program has been organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in partnership with Free Press Unlimited under the financial assistance of European Union. The focal persons of the newly approved stations participated in the meeting.

The meeting was presided and moderated by AHM Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of BNNRC. The participants, after a brief self introduction, described their progress and challenges in installation of their stations. All the stations got the license from Ministry of Information and now waiting for of BTRC approval on frequency allocation.

The Chief Executive Officer of BNNRC briefed them on the experiences and lessons learned of the 1st batch of community radio stations. He provided them some suggestions and guidelines for facing future challenges and take appropriate steps in this regard.
