Radio Receivers Sets for English Language Program through Community Radio in Bangladesh

Since September 2012, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) with the support of “American Center, Dhaka” has been implementing the project title, “American English Radio Project (AERP)” through 17 Community Radio Stations.

This is the 4th phase of the project and has just started its final broadcasting of radio episodes through 17 Community Radio stations in Bangladesh.

The aim of the project is to upgrade the English language skills of the rural youth communities by using Community radios in Bangladesh.

Make the program interesting and more attractive a radio quiz competition is included in each episode of the radio programs. At the end of each episode, the presenter narrates the criteria for participating in the competition. Every time there are good numbers of respondents send right answers. So after receiving the quiz answers, the quiz winner is declared by lottery.

In this phase, we are going to award 680 quiz winners each by handing over a nice radio set. Each radio station will award 40 AERP quiz winner respectively. Recently, 680 multiband radio sets which worth BDT 6, 10,000 (the US $ 8,000) was collected and sent 40 radio sets to each radio stations.

The collected sets are very special this time, having options of medium, short & FM band, SB and SD card use with flashlight support in line with battery and power enable.

This option is essential for our rural listeners. Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) is distributing Radio Receivers Sets for English Language Program through Community Radio with the generous support from the American Center of US Embassy, Dhaka State Department, USA.
