COVID-19:

How Community Radios Broadcasting Coronavirus Education

Eighteen Bangladeshi Community Radio Broadcasters has started broadcasting program on Coronavirus Education for the rural people about the virus and the precautionary measures needed to escape the infection for making aware since March 01, 2020.
Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has been monitoring the situation 24 hours and coordinating community radio program on prevention of Corona virus contamination centrally. BNNRC is collecting and following the information from Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Government of Bangladesh, UNICEF in line with WHO COVID-19: Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan OPERATIONAL PLANNING GUIDELINES TO SUPPORT COUNTRY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE. BNNRC has also been developed an outline of program for the community radios. Considering the outline and update information, the community radios have been developing and broadcasting programs. The radios have been coordinating with the local administration and other government institutions for broadcasting the programs.

As a result, the panic among the community people has been reducing gradually and they are taking precautionary measures to prevent contamination of Corona virus. Besides, a good coordination has been established among government and private organizations. This awareness campaign will be continued unto the normal situation is bring back.

The radios are broadcasting altogether 4 hours program daily on Corona virus contamination in different formats like- news, Public Service Announcement (PSA), radio talks, magazine, drama, jingles, interview and expert opinions etc. The contents of the programs are- how to contaminate, symptoms of the patients, precautionary steps for preventing contamination, service provider, service providing agencies and service delivery points, experts’ opinions, and the role of community people.

A broadcaster in each radio stations was assigned as the focal person to coordinate the special education program. The Focal of the community radio stations are-

১ মার্চ ২০২০ থেকে বাংলাদেশে সম্প্রচাররত কমিউনিটি রেডিও একযোগে বিরতিহীনভাবে করোনা ভাইরাস সম্পর্কে গ্রামীণ জনগোষ্ঠীকে সচেতন করতে সম্প্রচার করছে বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠান। জনসচেতনতামূলক এ অনুষ্ঠানের উল্লেখযোগ্য বিষয়বস্তু হলো- করোনা ভাইরাস কি? কেন ছড়ায়, কিভাবে ছড়ায়, রোগীর লক্ষণ, চিকিৎসা এবং প্রতিরোধে করণীয় সম্পর্কে জনসাধারণকে তথ্য প্রদান করা।

বাংলাদেশ এনজিওস নেটওয়ার্ক ফর রেডিও এন্ড কমিউনিকেশন (বিএনএনআরসি) কেন্দ্রীয়ভাবে করোনা ভাইরাস সংক্রমণ পরিস্থিতি পর্যবেক্ষণ ও বাংলাদেশ সরকারের রোগতত্ত¡, রোগনিয়ন্ত্রণ ও গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট (আইইডিসিআর), ইউনিসেফ এবং বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা থেকে প্রাপ্ত কভিড-১৯: কৌশলগত প্রস্তুতি ও এ দুর্যোগ মোকাবেলায় করণীয় সম্পর্কে তথ্য সংগ্রহ করে অনুষ্ঠান নির্মাণের দিক-নির্দেশনাসহ সম্প্রচাররত কমিউনিটি রেডিও স্টেশনগুলোতে প্রেরণ করছে। এইসব তথ্যের উপর ভিত্তি করে কমিউনিটি রেডিওগুলো করোনা ভাইরাস প্রতিরোধমূলক রেডিও অনুষ্ঠান নির্মাণ ও সম্প্রচার করছে। এই প্রচারণা পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক অবস্থায় না আসা পর্যন্ত অব্যাহত থাকবে।

করোনা ভাইরাস নিয়ে কমিউনিটি রেডিওগুলো সম্মিলিতভাবে প্রতিদিন গড়ে প্রায় ৪ ঘন্টা অনুষ্ঠান সম্প্রচার করছে। সম্প্রচারিত অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্যে রয়েছে- পাবলিক সার্ভিস অ্যানাউন্সমেন্ট (পিএসএ), কথিকা, স্পট, জিঙ্গেল, নাটিকা, আলোচনা, বিশেষজ্ঞ ডাক্তারের পরামর্শ ও সাক্ষাতকার ইত্যাদি। এ সমস্ত অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে সংক্রমণ কিভাবে ছড়ায়, সংক্রমণের সাধারণ লক্ষণসমূহ এবং প্রতিরোধে করণীয় সম্পর্কে নানাবিধ তথ্য ও পরামর্শ প্রদান করা হচ্ছে। যেমন-

প্রতিটি কমিউনিটি রেডিও স্টেশনে একজন সম্প্রচারকারীকে এ কর্মসূচি সমন্বয়ের জন্য দায়িত্ব দেয়া হয়েছে। কমিউনিটি রেডিও পর্যায়ে সমন্বয়কারী হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন যথাক্রমে-
