27th World Press Freedom Day 2020:

 

27th World Press Freedom Day 2020 is going to be observed in all Community Radio Stations in Bangladesh simultaneously on May 03, 2014.  In the meanwhile, all Community Radio stations are preparing them for celebrating the day in Bangladesh at Community Radio station level with support from Free Press Unlimited & Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC).

Addressing the Global theme of the day is Journalism without fear or favour in line with the COVID-19: Challenges of Community Media to ensure free flow of information in the crisis and way forward on 3rd May 2020 with the support of Free Press Unlimited (FPU). Representatives from local media, media practitioners, civil society members, local administration and delegates from different level of the society will be invited in the online event.

The main objective of the program is to face challenge of Community Media to ensure free flow of information in the crisis of COVID-19 and undeetake necessary steps to overcome thorugh radio programs for prevention of COVID-19 and develop an effective coordination of Government and non-government organizations.

The discussed issues include providing information what role is playing community radios and local mass media for prevention of COVID-19 at community radio broadcasting areas. Discussion on the challenges of community radios are facing for continuing their broadcasting in the COVID-19 crisis and Role of Coronoa prevention committee and government and non-government organizations for non stop broadcasting program for COVID-19 prevention through community radio.

In the Rado Talks subject-wise narrative discussion, phone in program will be included. Deputy Commissioner, Civil Surgeon, Upazila Nirbahi officer, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Press Club President/Journalists, Naval/Army/RAB Commandant, Officers’ In-charge and Superintendent of Police, representative of Civil Society and the community people will be participating in phone in program to broadcast their opinion on COVID-19 prevention.

The Talks will help to reduce panic among the community people gradually and people will take more precautionary measures to prevent COVID-19. The local Corona Prevention Committees for reinforcing information and instructions fostering by the community Radios to prevent COVID–19 prevention. For More info: ceo@bnnrc.net
