Background of the Project:

Ipas Bangladesh works to address gaps in in-service training on FP (Family Planning) service provision for nurses and doctors at DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services) sites by providing additional in-service training for providers at DGFP (Directorate General of Family Planning) sites with emphasis on training and counseling on the available LARC (Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive) methods-IUDs and contraceptive implants. Ipas Bangladesh seeks to strengthen health systems activities by simultaneously implementing community awareness activities aimed at increasing knowledge and acceptability, and decreasing stigmaog FP, including LARC, provision and update.

Project objectives:

a) To provide accurate information to the general public, combating myths and misperceptions around FP, especially LARC, and raising awareness about the FP (Family Planning) services available in local facilities; b) To build the capacity of Community Radio station broadcasters and local level government personnel, in their ability to communicate and facilitate shame-free medically accurate information and conversations on FP methods, including LARC, with local communities through radio programs and community listening circles.

Expected Result of the project:

Listeners will be more aware regarding importance of Family Planning, use of family planning methods especially LARC method, reduce the social stigma, know better the different methods of birth control, get accurate information on service centre and be inspired to adopt family planning methods for reducing birth rate and child and mother mortality rates.

01. Primer (Booklet) on Family Planning.

02. Daylong orientation on the project for concern staffs (Radio Broadcasters) of 5 CR Stations.

03. Midterm project progress review meeting with the CR staffs.

04. Listeners club Meetings.

05. Radio Magazine Program produce and broadcast with Sanglap (Talk show).

06. Quiz and winner prize distribution ceremony.
