Borun Kumar Dash

Mr. Dash is a Staff Reporter at Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS); he started working here on August 1, 2011 and is continuing his service here to till date. Education : He obtained his MSS degree in Sociology from Dhaka International University in 2010.

She has been working in health-sector-journalism for about 15 years. She was awarded with two fellowships on Health and Education from BRAC, an International Development Organization. She received another fellowship on ‘Promoting Bangladesh Tourism’ from Bangladesh Tourism Board; and successfully completed a fellowship on ‘Awareness Raising and Policy Advocacy on Menstrual Hygiene Management, Gender and SRHR’ from RedOrange Media and Communications.

Hasan Misbah

Designation: Senior Reporter

Journalism Background :

Mr. Misbah is a Senior Reporter at Independent Television. He Worked as a Staff Reporter at Independent Television from December 2015 to December 2020; as a Reporter at Ekushey Television from June, 2012 to December 2015; and as a Reporter at ‘Amader Somoy’ from January 2012 to June, 2012.

Education :

He earned his Master Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2009 and Bachelor Degree from the same Department in 2008 from University of Rajshahi; achieving Second Class in each exam.

Experience :

Besides his regular job, Mr. Misbah is also involved in various voluntary and co-curricular activities. He is now working as The Vice-President at Cinema Bangladesh; and as a Creative Director at Mediabuzz Ltd. He is the Founder Vice-President of Children Film Society (CFS), Rajshahi; and the Founder Vice-President of Kiron Khelaghor Asor, Rajshahi.

Joysree Bhadury

Journalism Background :

Ms. Bhadury’s commencement of journalism took place while she was studying at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism in the University of Rajshahi. In addition to her studies, she started working for a local daily newspaper “Sonar Desh” in Rajshahi in 2013 for her interest about journalism. During that time, she made analytical news on various issues including aboriginals, women’s and children’s health and good governance. Since 2014, she has been working as the correspondent of Rajshahi university in the most circulated daily newspaper of the country “Bangladesh Pratidin”. She delivered detailed reports on various issues including education, health, nutrition, political conflict, culture, sports of university students at that period. In 2017 after completing her masters, she started working in Dhaka as staff reporter of Bangladesh Pratidin. She is currently collecting and publishing detailed reports on health and local government. In addition to journalism, she has participated in various national and international workshops on skills development.

Education :

She has completed honors and masters in Mass Communication and Journalism. She has received training on analytical and investigative journalism from various organizations.

Experience :

She started journalism in 2013 with the Daily Sonar Desh, Bangladesh. She has been working for Bangladesh Pratidin since 2014. She regularly covers health and local government issues since 2017.

Md. Maksud-un-Nabi

Designation: Senior Reporter

Journalism Background :

Mr. Maksud is a young popular broadcast journalist in Bangladesh who has been working in this field for over a decade. Currently, he has been working on Channel 24, the largest 24×7 news channel in Bangladesh, as a senior reporter since May 2012. He covers different beats that include politics, health, environment, education, and so on. He started his career at Radio Today FM 89.6 in early 2008. Out of his keen interest in television journalism, he joined Boishakhi TV, a popular private television station, as a staff reporter in September 2009. He also achieved the following prestigious awards for his outstanding journalistic works-

Education :

His educational background includes three master’s degrees with a bachelor’s. He has taken a master’s degree from the department of mass communication and journalism of the University of Rajshahi. His two other master’s degrees are from the institute of social welfare and research, University of Dhaka, and Department of English, Northern University Bangladesh. He has completed his bachelor’s in English from The People’s University of Bangladesh.

Experience :

With a view to strengthening his broadcast journalism skill, Maksud received a number of training and workshop which involves news, ethics, journalist safety, health reporting, education reporting, environment reporting, etc. He has a strong sense and skills in health reporting. He is awarded by Unicef for his journalistic work in children’s health.

Md. Mehedi Hasan

Designation: Senior Reporter

Journalism Background :

Md. Mehedi Hasan is also known as Dolar Mehedi, he is a Senior Reporter, working for Ekattor Television. It is the oldest and leading news Television in Bangladesh. He joined the Ekattor news television in 2010 as Reporter after completing his Master of Business Administration degree in Textile.

He has taken an interest in health sector in Bangladesh; has reported a sharp rise in COVID-19 infections and virus-related deaths over the past week amid fears of omicron variant spreading throughout the country. In his reports he said that, the women are more likely to be infected and vulnerable to the omicron variant than men, citing the latest research data. Bangladesh targets an 80% vaccination rate by June 2022, and health workers and people over 60 are being encouraged to receive a booster shot to combat the new variant.

Education :

His education background is in Textile Sector from Primeasia University, which is situated at Banani in Dhaka. He received different types of training from govt. and non-government institutes.

Experience :

He developed himself with a great interest, understanding and skills to report on a wide range of issues on health sector. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movie and travelling too.

 

Md. Raseduzzaman

Journalism Background :

Mr. Rased Bappy is a senior correspondent. He is currently working in one of the most famous non-government television channels “Somoy TV”. He has been working there since 2015. Before that he worked five years in a notable online news portal named, “Poriborton.com”.

According to Rased Bappy, humans are the children of nature. All lives will thrive if the environment and nature is taken care of. So will the universe. There is a deep connection between nature and human beings. Though we are the ones who are responsible for polluting our environment, making it poisonous for all the creatures. These thoughts have been driving journalist Rased Bappy to work for nature and the environment from his early Journalism career. Some of his wildlife reports have already drawn much attention to Bangladesh.

In 2017, the fire service unit in Bangladesh helped Rased Bappy to rescue a small bird from a tree that was stuck there. The rescue process and love towards wildlife was greatly portrayed in his report that people still cannot forget about it.

In 2018, a sick monkey was rescued and treated. Later it was released it it’s natural habitat. The Forest crime control unit helped in the process after Rased Bappy’s request. And thus, Rased Bappy is working to save nature and wildlife with his Journalism journey.

Education :

He completed his undergraduate and masters in Bangla Language and Literature. He studied in Jagannath University, and completed his 04 years honors from there.

After starting his career in Journalism, he pursued a short digital media management course from India. Rased Bappy also studied journalism in Bangladesh from various sources.

Experience :

Rased Bappy has 05-year experience in saving animal rights. He is also knowledgeable about environment pollution and how to sustain our environment for a better future. Besides Journalism, he loves reading books, watching movies, and travelling. He is also passionate about Cricket.

Md. Shafikul Islam Khokon

Journalism Background :

From an early age he was interested in writing and journalism. He is the youngest of two brothers and four sisters. He started his journalism from Daily Deshbangla in 2001. Earlier, he had written a different kind of novel, avoiding the so-called love story, but he could not publish it.

After working for a long time in Dainik Deshbangla, started working in Ajker Kagoj. Then he did not have to look back. Besides journalism, he started writing on various topics including sub-editorial, special report, feature, politics, diplomacy. Daily Destiny started working after the daily Aajker Kagaj was closed. Since then, Jaijaidin, Bartaman, Orthoniti Pratidin, Amadershomoy, Bangladesh Pratidin has been working continuously on the latest online news portal banglanews24.com.

Education :

Has studied up to BA BSS. He is also the custodian of the great holy book Quran.

Experience :

His writings were published not only in the national media but also in India, Canada, America and London.

Besides writing, he is also doing research. The local government is doing research on the subject and the liberation war and the research articles are published in local and foreign media. A Liberation War researcher of the Bangladesh Asiatic Society, a member of the Center for Democratic Local Governance, a local government research institute. Also doing social movement and humanitarian work from the front row.

In 2019, the Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies (BISL), with the support of the International Labor Organization (ILO), conducted a six-month study on the rights of coastal prison workers in Bangladesh. In addition, with the help of ALRD, in 2020, the Rakhine residents have won a 4-month fellowship on land rights. He completed a three-month course on ‘National Integrity Strategy, Right to Information Act, and investigative journalism’, jointly organized by The Hunger Project and the Asia Foundation.

He also wrote about the persecution of Rakhine in Myanmar and the Libyan issue in the national and international media. After the Dhaka University Student Parliament Daksur wrote a sub-editorial about not being elected in 27 years, the High Court gave a rule of 6 months to the government and the election was held later. He spends most of his time writing and researching.

 

Md. Shafiullah

He is a Journalist, Writer and Social Researcher.

He serves as Staff Reporter of a prominent daily newspaper of Bangladesh named Daily Bonik Barta. Before this, he served as reporter at the first terrestrial satellite television Ekushey Television (ETV), Dhaka.

He has experience as research associate with a demonstrated history of working in the anthropological researches. He has skills in qualitative research and data analysis, field work, volunteering work, and emergency response.

He is also an author of ‘Asmot Ali’r Onoshon’(a fiction).

He was born in 16 December, 1993.

Mustofa Muzzammel Mahmud

Saidur Rahman Asad

Mr. Asad has been working in the media since 2016. He started working as a staff reporter for the daily Sunamganjer Khobor. Then worked as Sunamganj District Reporter in online news portal Dhaka Post. Later, he got a chance to work for the national newspaper the daily Bhorer Kagoj and the satellite television DBC News.

Education :

He studied at Tahirpur Government High School. After finishing High School, he studied at Joynal Abedin College. He graduated from Sunamganj Government College in 2018. Now he is doing LLB in Sylhet Law College.

Experience :

He has been associated with the profession of journalism for almost seven years. Furthermore, he also participated in various trainings of Bangladesh Press Institute, Barishal. Saikat Bhowmik

Mr. Saikat Bhowmik is working as a Senior Correspondent at Sarabangla.net. He holds interest in health sector of Bangladesh. With the rise of many communicable and non-communicable disease, Bangladesh has lot of issues where journalists can do a lot of things to build awareness. Apart from reports on corruption, he always tries to raise basic health right issues of people in his report.

He started his career as planning and production merchandiser in RKD GROUP OF INDUSTRIES LTD. Chittagong, on 1st June 2010. Later, he joined as Newsroom Editor in Bangladeshpress online portal on 1st December 2015 and worked here till 30th November 2017. He worked in Sarabangla.Net as Senior Newsroom Editor from 1st January to 23rd June 2018. After that, he continued to work in Daily Sarabangla and Sarabangla.net online portal holding the position of Staff Correspondent and later, promoted to the position of Senior Correspondent in the same media house.

Mr. Bhowmik studied at Cumilla Zilla School and passed S.S.C Exam in 1999. Then he studied at Cumilla Victoria College and passed H.S.C Exam in 2001. He graduated from Cumilla Victoria College in 2008 majoring in political science.

Experience :

He has been associated with the profession of journalism for almost seven years.  As a reporter, he participated in lots of training and workshops to develop his professional skills. He always tries to develop himself and to learn new things from others.

 

Shahenoor Akter Urmi

Journalism Background :

Since starting the journalism profession, Ms. Urmi emphasized on the environment, health and migration reporting as well as climate issue and its impact on life and nature. Though her concentration is on the environment and climate change related reports, she has keen interest to work on the issues on women health and wellbeing as well as the climate emergency topics too.

She worked with Rohingya and climate displaced communities. She attended some training and workshops including ‘Reporting on Migration and Trafficking Course’ by Thomson Reuters Foundation and ‘Climate Finance Training for Journalists and Budget Activists of Bangladesh’ by International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCAD). Besides that, she also attended some one-day workshops and training which enriched her experience and skills as a journalist.

The Premier J-School where she completed her post grade on ‘New Media’ offered her the chance to learn intensive and core journalism skills and advanced innovative training for multiple online/digital platforms that enhance the story-telling experience in this day and age. Currently, she is aspiring to produce multimedia reports with resourceful contents.

Education :

She completed her graduation and post-graduation from the University of Chittagong under the Communication and Journalism department. Recently, she earned her second specialization, a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, India.

Experience:

As a journalist with more than five years of experience, she always looks for her next story, and the new media specialist allows her to adapt the story for multiple platforms and layouts. She started the journey as a trainee reporter with the Daily Star in Chattogram Bureau in 2012 and after one and half year, she joined the Daily Observer. Now, she is a Staff Reporter of the Business Insider Bangladesh and at the same time, working as a Contributor to The Daily Observer.

 

 

Shoybal Acharjee

He is much interested in healthcare. He always tries to bring out the data of the inner circle about the details of this sector. He constantly tries to dig deeper into the questions – “Which disease is affecting more people and which older people? People in which areas are most affected by any infectious disease? What is the rate of non-communicable diseases? How is the medical system in cities and villages? How has health care changed since the country became independent? Are the poor and helpless patients coming to the government hospital getting services easily? In this case, what kind of suffering they have to suffer. Are the doctors, nurses, officers and employees working in government hospitals present on time, are they all performing their duties properly? Where is the irregularity, corruption, mismanagement? Where is the nuisance of brokers? Is there anyone involved in the hospital? Are the helpless-poor patients getting free medicines from the government properly? Whether there is irregularity or exchange of money in the appointment of different positions in the hospital? What is the crisis-limitations in government hospitals? What is the quality of health services in the Upazila health complexes compared to the city? What are the reasons behind not increasing the value? The real picture of health care in rural areas and what kind of services are the people here getting in real sense? Whether the instructions and the law are properly enforced?

He has been working as a staff reporter for the leading national daily Samakal of Bangladesh since 2014. Prior to that, he worked for several local and national newspapers. He originally handcuffed to journalism in 2009. He started his career in journalism being the university reporter at the university where he studied. Irregularities in his own university, corruption, lack of adequate facilities for students, students of several departments in session, teachers’ absence in class, politicization of teacher-recruitment, exchange of large sums of money with staff and kinship, fights on green campus surrounded by hills, violence, murder and so on…

Education:

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2011 and his master’s degree in 2012 from the Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Chittagong, one of the public universities in the country. During that long period of study, he has acquired the in-depth knowledge about all aspects of journalism by hand and pen. The knowledge gained from the textbooks of the country and abroad is being used to fulfill the present professional responsibilities.

Experience:

In the professional life of journalism, he has received training on various topics from reputed organizations and institutions in the country and abroad including Winrock, International Bangladesh Press Council (PIB), US Agency for International Development (USAID), Community Development Center (Codec), Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), Internews, News Network, Wildlife Conservation Society, Bangladesh. Topics include health journalism, investigative journalism, development journalism, in-depth reporting, feature reporting, objective journalism, environmental journalism, electoral journalism, human trafficking, immigration, child marriage, gender-based violence, online journalism, journalism law and its correctness. Application, Right to Information Act, Mobile Journalism, Advantages and Disadvantages of Internet etc.

He has a strong interest in playing hockey. Incidentally, from the sixth grade onwards, he has been involved in hockey. He was also the captain of Chittagong district hockey team more than once. He has played several first and second round tournaments in famous clubs of Dhaka including Chittagong Abahani and Mohammedan.

He also achieved the honor of being a champion in inter-university hockey practice. He also enjoys spending time with siblings, relatives and friends. In addition to writing reports, he feels a different kind of peace in reading books, writing columns, going on trips, watching sports and spending time with his family.

 

Swapna Chokroborty

Ms. Chokroborty is ready to face challenges using her knowledge, perception and innovation to peruse long-term successful career in dynamic and professional environment of any organization through her own aptitude, handwork and dedication.

She started her journalism career with Daily Bhorer Kagoj as a Staff Reporter. She worked here for a long time, starting on 1st January 2011 and continuing to 31st December 2015.

Now she is working for Daily Janakantha as a Staff Reporter from 1st August 2021 to till now. Before that, she worked for Daily Shomoyer Alo as a Staff Reporter from 1st December 2019 to 21 May 2021. She also worked for Daily Amader Notun Shomoy as a Staff Reporter from 1st February 2017 to 30 November 2019. She was a Staff Reporter of an online news portal named arthosuchak.com from 1st January to 31 August, 2016.

Education :

She completed her M.S.S. Degree from Sylhet M.C. College with Economics in 2010. She completed her B.S.S (Honors) degree in 2009 with same subject, from the same college. She passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C.) exam from Brindaban Govt. College at Habigonj in 2005; and the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) exam from Habigonj Girls’ High school, in 2003.

Experience :

She joined Women Journalist Reporting Training Workshop for the Women Journalist of Sylhet Division, which was arranged by Press Institution of Bangladesh (PIB). Also, she participated in other training-workshops titled “Sangbadikotar Neetimala, Bostunisto Sangbad Poribeshon abong Noitikota” which was organized by Bangladesh Press Council; a workshop on `Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Death’, jointly organized by USAID and Voice of America (VoA). During her school life, she took part in the training course on ‘Life Skill Based Education’ by Bangladesh Scouts with support of UNICEF.
