Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication@ Commonwealth  ICT and Telecommunications Forum 2019 Dhaka, Bangladesh

AHM Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication is  participating the  Commonwealth  ICT and Telecommunications Forum  from 3o September – 02 October 2019 Dhaka, Bangladesh as a member of the Bangladesh Delegation. The  Forum theme is “Towards a Digital Commonwealth”

Commonwealth  ICT and Telecommunications Forum  2019 organised by Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation(CTO) and hosted by Government of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission(BTRC).

H.E. Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, Hon’ble Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Division, Ministry of Posts,Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh  inaugurated the 59th edition of the five-day CTO council meeting and annual forum in city’s Hotel InterContinental.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, he said now Bangladesh is the name of success in the tech world as the “Digital Bangladesh” activities have been turned into global activities”.

“Bangladesh is no more a bottomless basket rather the name of a reputed country which is moving towards the journey of development with unstoppable pace,” he said.

Referring to the successful trial of 5G in the country, the minister said: 5G policy and ecosystem is being developed to issue 5G license quickly.”

Dhaka is hosting the highest event of the CTO for the second time where 250-300 delegations from different commonwealth countries including telecommunication and information technology ministers, high officials of government, regulatory body chiefs, representative of private organizations and telecom and ICT experts are taking part.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology A K M Rahamat Ullah, MP, Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswas, CTO Chairman Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum and CTO Acting Secretary General Gisa Fuatai Purcell, among others, spoke on the opening ceremony with BTRC Chairman Md Jahurul Haque in the chair.

The CTO Forum is a very import and the highest policy formulating platform for the government, regulators and stakeholders, especially for different operators in the Commonwealth Countries.

This edition of the CTO Forum would focus on Broadband Planning for Digital Transformation, The Changing Nature of Universal Services Funds, Over the Top Operator, Cybersecurity, General Data Protection Regulation, Blockchain and Global Opportunities, Spectrum Management and Youth in ICT.

Sessions are; TOWARDS A DIGITAL COMMONWEALTH,  5G & BROADBAND DEPLOYMENT, UNIVERSAL ACCESS, THE DIGITAL ECONOMY & ENTREPRENEURSHIP, YOUTH AND ICTS, CONSUMER PROTECTION AND MARKET COMPETITION, OVER-THE-TOP SERVICES, CYBERSECURITY, ONLINE SAFETY, DATA PRIVACY AND PROTECTION, THE POTENTIAL OF DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES, SPECTRUM ALLOCATION & WRC-19, BROADBAND FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, LOCAL INNOVATION COMPETITION RESULTS,  DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND MANAGEMENT: and EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEMS,
