June 24, 2018, Kathmandu. The Regional Board of World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters, AMARC Asia-Pacific is pleased to announce that the 4th AMARC Asia-Pacific Regional Conference cum Assembly will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 16-19 November 2018.
The Community Radio Network of Indonesia, (Jaringan Radio Komunitas Indonesia, JRKI) and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, UAJY will co-organise the Conference.
The 4th AMARC Asia-Pacific regional conference will focus on ‘building resilient communities.’ Plenary sessions, panel discussions and hands-on skill development workshops will be held on issues and subjects ranging from ‘disaster risk reduction’ to ‘migration and human trafficking,’ from ‘rise of radicalism & extremism’ to ‘gender based violence and violence against minorities,’ from ‘widening social and economic inequalities’ to ‘freedom of speech.’
Community radio broadcasters, academics, policy makers, representatives of donor organisations, government representatives, and other stakeholders from countries in the Pacific, East Asia, South East Asia, and South Asia are expected to participate in the conference. Community radio experts from Africa, Latin America and Europe are also expected to attend.
The 4th AMARC Asia-Pacific Regional Conference will serve multitude of objectives including advocacy for community broadcasting, sharing of good practices, strengthening the network of community radios, and finalising strategies for the next four years for the development of community radio broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific region.
Community radio network and federations are welcome to bring in their delegations to the conference and collaborate in the forming of a strategic plan for the advancement of the community radio sector in the Asia Pacific region. Online registration details will be announced shortly.
