Training on skill enhancement for producing community radio news, program and drama

A five day-long follow up training workshop on “Skill Enhancement for Producing program, news & drama for Community Radio producers” has been started on November 29, 2014 at the training room of Rural Reconstruction Foundation, Ramnagar, Jessore. The course is jointly organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) and Free Press Unlimited (FPU) with the support of European Union (EU). Mr. Hans Noortman, a prominent facilitator of community radio of The Netherlands has leaded the facilitation where Mr. Mark Manash Saha, Program Coordinator, BNNRC joined as the interpreter and to coordinate the course as well. Mr.Manjur Ahmed,technical producer, ABC  Radio and Solaiman Khoka,renowned actor and script writer  of drama( Radio Soap Opera) also assist in facilitation of the workshop .The course will be concluded on December 03, 2014.

The objectives of the training workshop are to improve the radio producer skills in gathering and selecting information, producing program, news and development drama and engaging the audience in journalism and educational programming. With these objectives to achieve, the course includes sessions on Radio news, Interview Techniques, Story Telling (local stories), script writing, balanced reporting, problems in involving listeners, Radio Drama, use of sound & music and how to make programs attractive. The workshop is being conducted in a Hands-on nature by giving emphasis on practical demonstration and lot of demonstration to make possible the theory into practice. It is expected that after completion of the training workshop, participants will be able to develop authentic radio programs, news and drama by maintaining the quality.

A total of 10 participants from 05 radio stations attended in the training workshop. Out of 10 community radio practitioners there is one female participant from Community Rural Radio Krishi Radio 98.8. Mr.Suzaur Rahman and Sohel Biswas from Community Radio Nalta 99.2, Aminul Haque Liton and Jewel Islam from Community Radio Lokobetar 99.2, Rasel and Sanjib Roy from Community Radio Jhenuk 99.2 , Mr.Shamseem Mridha and Sahnaz Perveen from Krishi Radio and Robiul Islam &   Imran Hossain from Community Radio Sundarban 998.8 joined the workshop.

It can be mentioned that another workshop on the same contents will be held at another cluster (c-2) in northern region of the country from 5 December-10 December 2014.10 participants from 05 CR stations will join in the program.

The Producers from rest of the stations will join in another cluster(c-3), in another training workshop which is scheduled to be held in January 2015.
