Training workshop on Community Radio Drama held in Dhaka

A daylong training workshop for the trainers has been conducted on “Community Radio Drama in Social Transformation “in the training room of Coast Trust, Dhaka. The training workshop has been organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited under the support of European Union.

A total of 11 trainers from 14 Community Radio station participated in this training workshop.

Radio Drama plays a vital role to create consciousness among the people by giving information and knowledge. For this purpose, as part of skill enhancement, BNNRC has planned to organize a series of training for the staffs of CR station and local drama artists. It has been planned that renowned play writers, artist and experienced drama producers in an around the CR stations will facilitate the training workshop. As part of the process, this training workshop has been organized to primarily select the local facilitators.

In the training, there were analytical discussions on Community radio drama, Daily soap and Soap opera. Besides, a discussion session about script writing, producing, editing, recording and dialogue writing in a radio drama were also conducted. The session particularly focused on the main responsibility of a producer. At the end of the training all participants made an action plan for their CR station so that they would contact the respective stations and facilitate the training by following the plan.

Renowned drama personalities of the country- Solaiman Khoka and Pantho Shahriar were the main facilitators in the training workshop. Among others Mr.AHM Bazlur Rahman, CEO, BNNRC, Program Coordinator Md. Kamaruzzaman & Salma Sultana was present. Project Coordinetor, Mark Manas Saha coordinated the training workshop.
