Bangladesh Initiative for Connecting, Empowering & Amplifying Unified Voices on Global Digital Compact & Summit of the Future 2024 is going to organize a day-long Bangladesh preparatory consultation on Global Digital Compact & Summit of the Future 2024 on 27 March in Dhaka.

Mr. Masud Bin Momen, Foreign Secretary (Senior Secretary), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh will be participating as the Chief Guest and Mr. Stefan Liller, Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh will be participating as the Guest of Honor in the consultation.

Bangladesh Initiative for Unified Voices on Global Digital Compact & Summit of the Future 2024, under the auspices of the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) & Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC), has been actively engaging stakeholders since 2022. This engagement encompasses a wide array of actors, including Parliamentarians, Government officials, the UN system, private sector representatives, technical communities, civil society organizations (CSOs), academia, and youth communities.

Building upon this initiative, and with active support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNDP, BIGF & BNNRC are set to convene the National Consultation on the Global Digital Compact: “An Open, Free, and Secure Digital Future for All” alongside the UN Summit of the Future 2024: “Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow.

The event will bring together relevant government, civil society, youth, academia, and private sector stakeholders in consultation with the objectives to sensitize and engage Government and multi-stakeholder about the Global Digital Compact and Summit of the Future 2024, to identify the role of Government & multi-stakeholder and create a shared vision of the challenges, priorities & way forward for Bangladesh.

The consultation will be structured into three thematic panel sessions, mirroring the thematic priorities identified in the Bangladesh Initiative modality. The thematic sessions included: panel one- UN SG’s Report on Our Common Agenda and Global Digital Compact, Panel Two – UN Summit of the Future 2024 and Panel Three Bangladesh Way Forward.

With support from UNDP, a consultation on the Digital Compact was organized last year to solicit inputs from Parliamentarians.
