Six Community Radio Stations will Share Airwaves in Northern Bangladesh

A day-long strategic workshop titled- ‘Community Radio for the Future: Multi-Platform Presence, Multi-Generation Reach, Editorial Independence & Serving the Public Interest’, was held on 13 November, 2016 at the Meeting Room of Community Radio Sarabela, located in the premises of SKS Inn at Gaibandha.

The Program was organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in collaboration with Community Rado Sarabela, SKS Foundation under the support of Free Press Unlimited.

A total of 14 Community Radio Broadcasters and representatives of the initiator organizations of 6 Community Radio Stations (all located in northern region of the country namely Community Radio Mahananda, Community Radio Borendra, Community Radio Padma, Community Radio Mukti, Community Radio Chilmari and Community Radio Sarabela) participated in this event.

Seminar on Ten Special Initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals

Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI) of Ministry of Information, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has organized a seminar on “Ten Special Initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals” on 04 January 2017 at the seminar room of the Institute.

Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, the Principal Coordinator of SDGs at Prime Minister Office joined as the Chief Guest of the program.

The program was started with the welcome speech of Mr. Manzare Hasin Murad, the Course Director (post-graduate diploma) course -2 for film production.

Mr. Debabrata Chakraborty, Director, Prime Minster Secretariat presented the key note paper in the program. Mr. AHM Bazlur Rahman-S21BR, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) discussed on key note paper.
Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI), presided over the seminar.

Eight Coastal Community Radio will Share Coastal Airwaves in Bangladesh

A day-long strategic workshop titled- ‘Community Radio for the Future: Multi-Platform Presence, Multi-Generation Reach, Editorial Independence & Serving the Public Interest’, was held on 4 January , 2017 at the Meeting Room of Coast Trust at Shyamoli, Dhaka. The Program was organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) under the support of Free Press Unlimited.

A total of 14 Community Radio Broadcasters and representatives of the initiator organizations of 8 Community Radio Stations (all located in coastal region of the country namely Community Radio Naf, Community Radio Sagar Giri, Community Radio Meghna, Community Radio Sagardwip, Community Radio Lokobetar, Community Rural Radio Krishi, Community Radio Nalta and Community Radio Sunderban) participated in this event.

Combating Community Radio Technical Challenges: Technicians Discussed on Solutions

“Thundering has damaged many of our equipment including console. The broadcasting of the station has been suspended. There was no technician available in Hatiya Island to repair and resume the broadcasting. On another day short-circuit affected the tower that also disrupted the program broadcasting”

Mr. Golam Kibria, a Radio Technician from Community Radio Sagardwip was telling his experience of technical troubles that he has been facing in station operation in a daylong workshop held for Community Radio Technicians on 03 January, 2017 at Coast Trust Meeting Room of Shyamoli, Dhaka.

The main objectives of this workshop were to identify the challenges of the radio technicians and the ways they have mitigated their problems. It was also aimed to plan their future needs and demands to update their radio stations both in program production as well as to maintain their station equipment.
