Community Radio Polliknotho 99.2 is Receiving the First Prize in Family Planning Media Award 2012-13

Community Radio Pollikontha 99.2 is receiving the first prize in Family Planning Media Award-2012-13 Competition organized by Family Planning Directorate of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in cooperation with UNFPA.

This is the 1st significant success and recognition of a community radio in the country for their contribution in broadcasting programs on Population, Family Planning and Mother & Child Health category. The competition took into judgment all categories of submissions from all types of Media, printing and electronic- including public service broadcasting like BTV and Betar. Among the submissions there were exclusive and investigative reports and articles on the issues related to Family Planning, Mother and Child Health care published and/or broadcast within the time from July 1 to June 30, 2013.

Community Radio Pollikontha 99.2 in Moulvibazar has submitted in the completion the radio program “Shushasthya” (Good Health) which was produced on Population, Family Planning and Mother & Child Health with the participation from community. It can be mentioned that this program was among the most-listened programs broadcast by this Radio station. On 24 May Government has announced the result of the Media Award competition, in which Community Radio Pollikontho 99.2 placed the 1stposition. Community Radio Pollikontho 99.2 initiated by BRAC.

The recipients will be awarded on Thursday, July 11; in a program jointly organized by Family Planning Directorate and UNFPA at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka as part of observing the world population day-2013.The theme of this year is- Adolescent Pregnancy[with the slogan: Adolescent Pregnancy leads to Maternal mortality.]

Community Radio Pollikontha 99.2 will be awarded taka 50 thousand and crest as 1st Prize recipient of the Media Competition Award.
