Four Community Radio Broadcasters have been shortlisted for the next stage of selection for Bangladesh Youth Delegation (BYD) 2022 in India. Bangladesh Youth Delegation to India 2022 this initiative is a part of the Government of India’s policy to further strengthen people-to-people contacts and exchanges between India and Bangladesh.

Members of the delegation are young men and women drawn from diverse institutions in Bangladesh and include doctors, engineers, management graduates, business people, entrepreneurs, journalists, musicians, and students.

The shortlisted broadcasters are –

Md. Shahed, Community Radio Sagorgiri 99.2 FM (Sitakunda, Chattogram),

Md. Jahid Hasan, Community Radio Mukti 99.2 FM ( Bogura),  

Sharif Uddin, Community Radio Borendro99.2FM (Naogaon) and 

Salman Md. Faravi, Community Radio Sagor Dwip 99.2FM (Hatiya, Noakhali).

Earlier a total of 15 community radio broadcasters from Community Radio Stations in the country submitted an application for joining the competition.

A weeklong visit to India provides opportunities for the 100-member delegation to experience various facets of Indian culture and development. The visit encompasses travel to various iconic locations — cultural, industrial and other. The 100-member Bangladesh youth delegates also generally travel to multiple cities in India.

Through a long and diverse process, the four community radio browbeaters are getting an invitation to appear for an interview in their respective divisional city.

India was the first country to recognize Bangladesh as a separate and independent state and established diplomatic relations with the country immediately after its independence in December 1971. The relationship between India and Bangladesh is anchored in history, culture, language and shared values of secularism, democracy, and countless other commonalities between the two countries.

The relations between India and Bangladesh are based on fraternal ties and reflective of an all-encompassing partnership based on sovereignty, equality, trust and understanding that goes far beyond a strategic partnership. In the last couple of years, the two countries have consolidated their relations resulting in a comprehensive institutional framework to promote bilateral cooperation in all areas.

Now 18 Community Radio Stations are on-air in the country. They are broadcasting altogether 200 hours of programs per day on information, education, local history, art and culture, entertainment and development motivation activities. Around 1000 Youth Women & Youth are now working with those Stations throughout the country as rural broadcasters among 9.1 million rural people in 121 Upazilas under 16 districts in Bangladesh.
