Media Fellowship on SDG-16

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has started a fellowship program for Bangladeshi journalists (Print and Online Media) with support from Switzerland.

The objectives of the fellowship are to assist journalists in preparing constructive reports on existing challenges and steps to be taken to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) -16 and encourage the journalists to provide transparent, objective, and responsible news about the rights of disadvantaged people and the programs taken by the government

A total of five journalists have been selected as a fellow for this batch. The Fellows are- Ms. Naznin Akhter, Senior Reporter, Daily Prothom Alo, Ms. Nilima Jahan, Reporter, Print/Digital, the Daily Star, Mr. Zahidur Rahman, Reporter, Daily Samakal, Ms. Jharna Roy, Senior Reporter, Sarabangla.net and Mr. Afjal Hossain Lovely, Special Correspondent, 71News.com. The Fellows are guided by Mr. Sohrab Hassan, Joint Editor, Daily Prothom Alo as Mentor during the fellowship period.          

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) is in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) accredited with World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) of the United Nations and UN WSIS prize winner 2016, Champion 2017, 2019, 2020 & 2021.

BNNRC’s approach to media development is both knowledge-driven and context-sensitive, and it takes into account the challenges and opportunities created by the rapidly changing media environment in Bangladesh including community radio development giving voices for the voiceless from 2000.
