Preventing antimicrobial resistance together: World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2023 in Bangladesh

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is going to be observed in local and national level in Bangladesh from 18-24 November 2023.The theme for this week is ‘Preventing antimicrobial resistance together’. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a threat to humans, animals, plants and the environment. It affects us all. This year’s theme promotes collaboration across sectors to preserve the efficacy of these critical medicines.

Fighting AMR is a truly global endeavour and must be addressed through a One Health approach. To curb it effectively, all sectors must join forces and encourage the prudent use of antimicrobials, as well as preventive measures. The slogan of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week remains ‘Antimicrobials: Handle with Care.’

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) member of AMR: Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Forum has started advocacy process to observe the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2023 in collaboration with national level Media and Community Radio Broadcasting at local level under the program of the Building Constructive Journalism to Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Bangladesh.
