Three-Day long Capacity Building Training of Trainers for Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement Started

Aiming to increase the capacity of Community Radio broadcasters to promote the personal advancement and professional excellence of Readymade garments (RMG) workers and family members through community radio programs a 3-days long Training of Trainers (ToT) started on 6 June 2022 in Dhaka.

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) organized the ToT under the project titled Promoting Foundation Skills and Support for Rural Youth Women for Empowerment supported by Gap Inc Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement (P.A.C.E.) Program.

The ToT is to provide in-depth clarity and understanding of the Concept of Problem Solving & Decision Making and Time & Stress Management and increase the knowledge and skill to produce innovative radio programs on those issues.

A total of 17 participants attended the ToT from 10 Community Radios in the country. The Community Radios are Community Radio Padma 99.2FM (Rajshahi), Community Radio Nalta 99.2FM (Kaliganj, Satkhira), Community Radio Lokobetar 99.2FM (Barguna Sadar, Barguna), Community Radio Sagor Giri 99.2FM (Shitakunda, Chattogram), Community Radio Chilmari 99.2FM (Chilmari, Kurigram), Community Radio Meghna 99.0FM(Charfasion, Bhola), Community Radio Sarabela 98.8FM Gaibandha), Community Radio Bikrampur (Munshigonj, 99.2FM), Community Radio Saikat, 99.0 FM (Cox’s Bazar), Community Radio Sagordwip, 99.2FM, Hatia Noakhali.

In the 3-day training the participants learn about the  Basic concepts of Problem Solving & Decision Making (PSDM), Consensus Building, Basic Concepts of Time & Stress Management, (TSM) Time Audit, Goal Setting & Prioritization, Multitasking, Multiple roles & Stress Management, Positive Thinking & Exercises for Relaxation in theatrically and practically ( Group Work)   Besides, the participants will be able to develop scripts and learn the techniques to produce radio programs on PSDM and TSM  for community people.

The session’s facilitators are Ms. Jakia Ferdous, Welfare Manager of the Standard Group, Mr. Amin Al Rasheed, Current Affairs Editor, Nexus TV and Mr. Reza Mahmud Al Huda, Freelance Consultant.

It is expected that after the ToT, the Broadcasters get in-depth clarity and will be able to understand the concepts of PSDM & TSM modules, the technique of script writing, program production, stakeholders’ engagement, and the mechanism to reach the community and archiving in the programs.

Mentioned that BNNRC is being implemented the project to enhance the capacity of rural youth and young women, especially garment workers and their family members, by developing technical and life skills supported by Gap Inc P.A.C.E. Program through 10 Community Radios in the country. Under the project, 20 community radio broadcasters have been nominated as trainers.

Under the project, the radios are Produce and Broadcast a total of 200 issue-based Magazine Program (12-15 Minutes) and Radio Talks (25-30 Minutes). The Issues of the Radio Programs are -Communication, Problem-solving & decision making, Time & stress management, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene and Financial Literacy.
