Training Workshop for Community Radio Broadcasters: Videography and Digital Storytelling for Community Radio!

A 5-day workshop for Producers of Community Radio held on 28th August to 01 September 2019 at NIMC training room in Dhaka. The program was organized by National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) of Ministry of Information, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The objective of the training was to build the capacity of Community Radio producers to produce and broadcast issue-based audiovisual programs special focused on Women and Child development in line with Sustainable Development Goals at the community level.

A total of 36 Community Radio broadcasters from 18 Community Radio Stations participated in the workshop where 18 participants were women broadcasters.

The Participants were coming from- Community Radio Padma 99.2FM (Rajshahi), Community Radio Nalta 99.2FM (Kaliganj, Satkhira), Community Radio Lokobetar 99.2FM (Barguna Sadar), Community Radio Pollikontho99.2FM (Moulvibazar), Community Radio Sagargiri 99.2 FM (Sitakunda, Chittagong), Community Radio Mahananda 98.8 (Chapainawabganj), Community Radio Mukti 99.2FM(Borguna), Community Radio Chilmari 99.2FM( Chilmari, Kurigram), Community Radio Jhenuk99.2FM (Jhenaidha), Community Rural Radio: Krishi Radio 98.2(Amtali, Barguna), Community Radio Sundarban 98.8( Koyra, Khulna), Community Radio Naf 99.2 (Tekhnaf, Cox’s Bazar), Community Radio Bikrampur 99.2FM (Munshiganj), Community Radio Borendro 99.2FM (Naogan), Community Radio Meghna 99.00FM (Charfasion, Bhola Island), Community Radio Sagor Dwip 99.2FM ( Hatia, Noakhali ), Community Radio Sarabela 98.8FM (Gaibandha) and Community Radio Boral 99.0 (Bagha, Rajshahi).

The Training combined thematic and practical sessions like- Present Scenario of Children & Women Rights in Bangladesh and Child Rights Convention (CRC), Formats of Radio program, Basic Videography and Visual Documentation, Role of Community radio for Community development and achieving sustainable Development Goals Children and Women perspective, Techniques of Digital Storytelling, Media Policy: Do’s and Don’ts , Role of Govt. Agenda in Promoting Children & Women Rights Techniques of Script Writing, Production, Recording and Editing.

Those sessions were scheduled to be facilitated by Ms.Rawnak Jahan Deputy Director of NIMC, Md. Nazrul Islam Director (Trg.Pro) of NIMC , Md. Masud Monwar Bhuiyan, Assistant Director (Camera & Light trg), NIMC, Mr. Bulbul Hossain, Head of Business Development of Radio Ambar, Dr. Abdul Mansur, Professor, Dept. of Mass Communication & Journalism, University of Dhaka, Ms. Shahida Sultana, Deputy Director, NIMC, Mr AHM Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC), Mr. Shafiqur Rahman Shantonu, Dramatist Mr. Abu Nawsher, Ret. Betar Official and Mr. Amanullah Masud Hasan, NIMC

The workshop has been coordinated by Md. Masud Monwar Bhuiyan, Assistant Director (Camera & Light trg) of NIMC.
In the closing ceremony of the 5-days long workshop was presided over by Begum Shahin Islam, Director-General
(Additional Secretary), NIMC where Ms.Rawnak Jahan Deputy Director, Md. Nazrul Islam Director (Trg.Pro), Mr. Md. Masud Karim, Additional Director General of NIMC and Mr. AHM Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) were present.

Expected that after the training the participants will be able to learn present scenario of women and children rights in Bangladesh, different formats of the radio program, the technique of communication, presentation, Scriptwriting, develop program efficiently both in audio and visual and media policy.
