The Training Workshop on Fundraising & Self Reliance at Community Radio Bikrampur 99.2 for creating Sustainable Community Radio Stations was held in Community Radio Bikrampur training room, at Bikrampur, Munshigonj on 15 November 2018.
The workshop was organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited.
Mr. Z. I. Farook, a renowned resource and fundraising specialist, facilitated the workshop. The aim of the workshop was to support and uphold the potential and effectiveness of the radio Broadcasters and the concern members of the management and Advisory Committees to cultivate their expertise, knowledge, and achievements in self-reliance of their radio station. As a result of this action in fundraising, by linking different potentials, tools, and techniques discussed for bringing constant betterment of their radio station.
Mr. Fahad Hasan Anik, Program Presenter, CR Bikrampur said that “There are many linkages between program, fundraising and our initiator’s overview, as the workshop enlighten me with, is a great support”. Another Broadcaster Ms. Rabeya Bosri, mentioned that “the workshop helped us with concepts of utilizing our own funding priorities in future, I am sure it will supplement the CR Station in coming days”.
The workshop has facilitated its participants through SWOC (strength, weakness, opportunities, and change) with the conscience to analyze and articulate the skills and competence on fundraising efforts for the sustainability of the CR Station. With the learning of the workshop the community radio Bikrampur will be continuing its active role as a bridging component by establishing linkage with the community and different individual donor or different corporate or other relevant sectors. With the new insights and thought-provoking discussion between the facilitator and the participants the workshop met its requirements- to inspire, build knowledge for organizational credibility and sustainability.
Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) actively works to improve recognition of the community electronic media sector [Community Radio | Community TV | Community Film] & its work in and involvement with the communities it seeks to serve from 2000.
Now 17 Community Radio Stations are on-air in the country, aiming to ensure empowerment and right to information for the rural community. They are broadcasting altogether 144 hours program per day on information, education, local entertainment, and development motivation activities.
Around 1000 Youth Women & Youth are now working with those stations throughout the country as rural broadcasters within 6.6 million rural people in 119 upazillas under 16 districts in Bangladesh.
