Training workshop on Skill Enhancement for Production & Editing in Program & News for Community Radio Station

A five day-long Training workshop on “Skill Enhancement for Production & Editing in Program & News for Community Radio Station” was started on May 25, 2011 at the conference room of Hotel Mukta, Rajshahi.

The Training workshop was jointly organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC), Free Press Unlimited (FPU) and Radio Padma with the support of European Union (EU).

Two prominent facilitator of community radio namely Mr. Hans Noortman of The Netherlands and Mr. Raghu Mainali of Nepal has joined as the facilitators of the course. The course will be concluded on May 29, 2014.

The objectives of the training workshop are to upgrade the skills and knowledge level of participants in selecting topics, contents, collecting information, editing and mixing for developing News for the community radios.

In the inaugural speech, Ms. Shahana Parvin, Station Manger of Radio Padma as the local host has welcomed the participants to Rajshahi as well as in the training workshop event. After word Mr. Mark Manash Saha, Program Coordinator, BNNRC has narrated the objectives of the course and BNNRC as well.

In his speech Mr. Raghu Mainali said that he has been working with community media for last couples of decades and particularly working with the community radio movement of Nepal for last seventeen years.  He recalled that since the inception of community radio movement in Bangladesh, he was closely worked with the initiators here as a community radio practitioner.

In his speech, Mr. Hans Noortman of Free Press Unlimited has described his experience with community radio since 1999.  He invited all the participants to take active role in the discussions so that each everyone will be benefitted with others views and information.

A total of 16 practitioners from 8 different community radio stations namely Community Radio Padma 99.2 , Community Radio Mahananda 98.8,  Community Radio Chilmari 99.2,  Community Radio Borendra 99.2, Community  Radio Mukti 99.2, Community Radio Jhenuk 99.2, Community  Radio Nalta 99.2 and Community Radio Sundarban 98.8  are participated in the   Training workshop.
