Training Workshop on Sustainability Strategy for Community Radio Stations held in Bangladesh

The Training Workshop on Sustainability Strategy for Community Radio Stations in Bangladesh was held in YWCA Auditorium Dhaka from 17-20 February 2015. The workshop was organized by Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited under the support from European Union. The workshop was facilitated by Ideosyne Media combine, NewDelhi,  India.

A total of 39 participants participated in the workshop. They included core Staffs, management committee members and representatives from 14 Community Radio of Bangladesh. Mainly this workshop has been organized for assisting community radios staffs for preparing work plan on sustainable short-term, mid-term and long-term strategy. Moreover, different aspects of sustainability and components of community radio were discussed in workshop.

The facilitators discussed and practiced on the work plan for the next 2 months for developing a sustainability plan for each of the CR stations. In the closing session of the workshop held at evening on the 20th February, the participants provided their feedbacks and mentioned this workshop as an important opportunity to find the ways to sustainability.

Ms.Reba Rani Saha, Joint Secretary (Radio), Ministry of Information, People’s Republic of Bangladesh attended as the Chief Guest of the closing session and distributed certificates among the participants. She assured the continued support in CR sector from the Government.Mr.Golam Chowdhury Najim, Executive Director, Betar Bangla (the Bangla community radio in London) participated as the special guest of the closing session.

 

 

N. Ramkrishnan, Director, & Venu Arora from Ideosyne Media combine, India worked as Chief Trainers in the Workshop. Mr.Nitesh Ananda, Program Assistant & Leona Farnandez, Program Assistant of Ideosyne Media combine, India and Syed Kamrul Hasan, Coordinator-Knowledge Management & Md. Kamruzzaman, Program Coordinator of BNNRC assisted them as co-Facilitators in the Workshop.
